Roof mechanism problem

Hi,

My 2003 Boxster roof wouldn't close today. Salient points as follows:

1. To close roof manually (as per Handbook) I prised nearside push-rod off, but when I went round to remove push rod on driver's side, it was already off - I guess this caused the problem. Something on this side was preventing me from shutting roof manually.

2. With help of local mechanic, we disassembled the levers from the motors so that roof is now shut / car secure. (Driver's side push rod had 45 degree bend and was preventing roof closure).

3. With levers off, we tested the motors - only the driver's side was spinning - nearside not moving. Then again - unsure if only one side should spin?

4. To make it a cracking day, the compartment lid nearside 'underarm' must have got slightly bent as roof tried to close, as lid won't sit flush to bodywork on nearside.

The work required here looks a bit above my pay grade - wondered if anyone had testimonials for roof mechanism repairers in the Croydon / Surrey area? Also, any ideas re. £ I might be in for?

Cheers,
Mike.

Isn't it one motor with 2 drive cables coming out - one each end?

The cable or gearing has probably broken inside the motor.
