Roof repair

I have a 2002 996 cab. Just noticed today that there are two wires, one each side, which keep tension on the roof over the window section when up. one wire is about to part, does anyone know how this can be replaced?

I have looked at the workshop manual, and it has made me even more pleased I haven't got a cabriolet!![:D][:D] What a complicated bit of kit that is!

I can't quite make out the wires you mean, but if you send me an email, I'll attach the instructions on how to remove the fabric from the roof, which I assume would include the wire you are talking about.

Are you talking about the two tensioner cables that have ball ends which clip under the rear window and hold tension of the cab top from the back?

If so it's called a Tension Rope Part # 996.561.191.00. It's about £20 each. Very easy to replace.

May be an idea to explain exactly what/where these wires your talking about are. Picture speaks a thousand words ;)
