Roof stuck down - Help needed

Hi.
At least it's sunny out. Have driven the car for about 4 hours (nice run) with the roof down and now I'm home and it's not coming back up. Not a sound from the motor. It's never really given grief before, except if the battery is really low but I'm up at 14 on the guage so that should be ok. Nowhere will be open here today or tomorrow (Bank Holiday) so I reckon I'll have to manually do the job. Is there a link on how to do this and is there any special tooks I need so I can get these before doing the job. First time it's not budged like this in 5 years. Bummer.
Thanks in advance.
Kevin

are you sorted Kevin? do you mean you have taken the sunroof out altogether and the brackets are not coming back up to enable you to replace the sunroof ?

Its the cabrio. I pressed the switch to lower the roof about 1pm. Then Drove down from Donegal to Dublin (with the cover in place) and then got home, put the switch to position1 as always and pressed the switch for the roof to come back up and there is nothing. no sound of a motor etc etc. There was a small rattle on the drivers side above the rear drivers speaker about 30 minutes before I got home but I'm not sure if this is related. I just went out there now and it's still not coming back up. I don't have a garage or anywhere to leave it under cover so I need to get something to get the roof back up. I'm on slimfastplan@hotmail.com for any details anyway. Otherwise I'll just have to hope it doesn't rain.

ok. the roof is back up. Thanks far that. I loosened the nuts a good bit and the roof moved but would not go past a certain point . The nuts needed to be fully loosened to the point of nearly falling off before the roof would come up fully.
ok. Sunday evening on a bank holiday. Time to click that roof in and go to the pub to get laughed at by the guys asking why I bought a car where there is a possibilty that it wil turn into a swimming pool. Good night and God bless.

Hi, I have a similar problem, mines a normal hardtop with a removable sunroof and its never given trouble before. Today I removed the sunroof and drove about 6 miles, stopped, put the roof back on and the motorised clamps at the back wouldnt raise again. When you push the switch (rock it back-towards you) theres noise from the motor and when you rock it forward theres no noise at all..

Any ideas??

Regards,
Harry

I just tested the switch and the main fuses under the bonnet and they seem fine..

could someone please tell me whether there are microswitches or other fuses, relays etc to worry about??

Ta,
H

clarks garage has detailed sunroof diagnosis info - there are 3 microswitches but if the motor is running it is probably stripped gears or broken cable

My motor started working that Sunday evening but would not raise the roof. It turnes out that the gearing is broken and I'm awaiting a part from the UK to arrive.
It could be the same sort of issue with yours.
Hopefully it will be something small. In future I think I'll use the roof alot more and not leave it 6 months to test it.
Good luck.

Did you sort this problem out as mine just done exactly the same thing today !!

Check the micro switch at the front of the sunroof, above the rear-view mirror. This is set to detect that the roof is back in place, sounds as if it's not working?
