Rook Suspension

Guys

Sorry to raise the old suspension upgrade chesnut again but i finally got around to calling JZ M for a quote to fit the Bilstein HD's & the HR spring upgrade that has been discuused at length. The technical guy I spoke to warned me off the Carnewal Bilstein / HR set up claiming to have had several customers who were less than happy with the result and in particular highlighting the issue of the springs becoming unseated when the car is jacked up. The recommendation from JZ was to fit the Rook Racing kit, which whilst it uses Bilstein dampers have a different valve setting and come complete with more progressive springs than the HR set up. JZ assured me the finished result was more comfortable on the straights, stiffer on the bends and an all around better ride. The downside is the additional £500 over and above the Carnewal offering.

I am not adversed to parting with the extra cash, so long as the bang is worth the buck - any comments, any experience with the Rook Racing Kit?

This has also come up in the past where JZM push their own kit. You just have to look on Rennlist to see the number of people running the Carnewal setup to realise that their is not a problem.

I had it on my car for 2 years and never had any problems.

Ultimately you have to make the decision.

With respect to the springs becoming unseated during jacking (with Bilstein HD's) helper springs can be fitted to prevent this - it is not ideal admittedly (EDIT: ideal would be springs that fit the shocks), but it does the trick.

I will try and find the time to whip one of the rear wheels off and take a photo of the setup over the weekend (no promises though because pretty busy at the mo').

Re the Roock kit: all I can say is that I've had this fitted and it's excellent. Stays flat on the corners, unless you're really moving [8|] and not too harsh. You have the option to have the car lowered too, which I did (and of course have the tracking adjusted to your preferences).
