Rosepassion? (Valve Springs)

Chaps,

Quickie. Further to this thread:

https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=892234

... I ordered some valve springs from RosePassion. These ones:

http://www.rosepassion.com/en/cat/944-1989-944-s2-coupe-manual-gearbox-5-speed/M447/engine-and-fuel-feed/valve-valve-guide-valve-spring-hydraulic-valve-lifter-cylinder-head/B503/cylinder-head-valves/I4625/set-of-valve-springs/P34040

They have now arrived and .... I'm a little suspicious. There is no marking on the springs or the packets to say they are Porsche parts (fair enough, they weren't advertised as such) but there are also none of the usual paint blobs on the springs, and the packets have a notable spelling mistake on the label (have a look at the top right hand corner).

In short, should I be suspicious about the longevity and functionality of these springs? They don't have the hallmarks of Porsche parts, but there can't be much call for parts like this in the world so there can't be many places making them, hence it's quite possible they came out of the same factory that the equivalent Porsche parts would have done.

Longer question; has anyone else had any experience of parts from RosePassion, either positive or negative? PM me directly if it'll break the name-and-shame rules on here. Thanks.

Oli.

Put it this way. They haven't claimed they are genuine Porsche parts, so they're not genuine Porsche parts, so there's no guarantee they'll perform like Porsche parts. They could be inferior or superior. Even if they're made by a manufacturer who claims to supply Porsche, there's no guarantee they're of the same quality. The only way to get 100% guaranteed genuine parts is from Porsche or a trusted source who can prove they're from Porsche.

Michael,

Thanks, you're right. But I was wondering whether anyone had any direct experience of buying valve springs, or of buying from Rosepassion.

If it's any help I've not heard of any problems with RP, in fact only good comments. Not about this part specifically, but overall service.

I must admit, given the amount of labour cost involved, I'd probably have gone for Porsche parts with something like this, but I'm no engineer, and I'm a bit paranoid about things I don't understand!

Those will be fine, they come from the worlds biggest OEM Porsche distributor, they dont sell repro or aftermarket. They will be the same parts from the factory that Porsche get, Porsche then have then repackaged in their own livery

Great experience with Rose Passion in the past. I would expect the machine shop to reject them if they had any concerns? (just as they rejected your old springs)

Big thumbs up from me for Rosepassion. Bought my water pump from there. I'm sure I bought other things as well but as I've bought so many parts in the last couple of years I couldn't tell you what unless I went through the folders of receipts that I have.

All the parts I have got from rosepassion have been excellent including postage and packaging better then some I could mention

Chaps,

Thanks for your answers - they are most encouraging. I'll post them on to the people who are rebuilding the cylinder head and ask them to go ahead and fit them.
