Rotation of Rear wheels/Hubs/Discs on a C2S with PDK when jacked up.

Hi Guy's,
I have had my 997.2 C2S for a few years now and have taken the rear wheels off a few times, but the only way I have found to allow rotation of the hubs/discs is to start the car up and leave in neutral with the front wheels chocked. The only problem being is that you cannot take the ignition key out when the engine is switched off, and on this model there is no button or slot to press to release the key. Not sure how the Porsche centre do this but any advise would be appreciated, its not a big problem but I am sure there is a better way ?

Why do you need to remove the key when the car is jacked up and minus the rear wheels? Are you going away and leaving it like that? I've the done same thing, putting it in N so I can rotate the discs to clean out the holes, but never had to remove the key.
 
The reason being is that after replacing the rear discs I would like to repaint the hubs and leave to dry for a few hours before refitting, as I said it not a big problem but I am interested to see if anyone knows a better way.
 
  1. Rotate hubs in neutral with the ignition key inserted.
  2. Paint the hubs as required.
  3. Select "Park", then remove key and lock car.
  4. Leave hubs to dry.

Thanks Clive, it will mean getting back in the car and then starting up again while on jacks to select neutral but that will work I am sure this will be of help to others with rear wheel drive cars/PDK, and do not have the luxury of a garage which can be locked up with the car in.

Pete you can change gear without the engine running. Just turn the key to light up the dash, press the brake lightly with your hand and move the gear lever to P(ark) and you are all set. I do this to roll my car in the garage.
