Hi guys what would you say the value of a 1999 c2 with 70,000 on the clock is worth? I've had the clutch and m030 suspension done. oh its ocean blue and has a savannah interior (im not sure if that's a good thing or not).

Cheers
Chris

Unfortunately Savanna isn't very popular, and nor is ocean blue. Assuming it has a decent service history then i'd say somewhere sub 10k. I hope that isnt too much of a shock. Good luck with the sale.

Ouch i was hoping it would be closer to 14k [8|]. Why is it not a very popular choice i think its quite unique.

I think that sentence contains your answer! - Although of course the trick is to find someone who loves it (and they are out there) then they will be desperate to have your car.[:)]

I think ocean blue is a good colour, but then I own one in that colour. I think you could achieve more money than that as long as you don't want a very quick sale. Their are a lot of cheap 996s for sale but ones with low miles very good service history, also maintained well, interior and very good paint work will fetch more money and as time goes on there will be less available that are good. I also prefer less owners as well and I think this helps with values of cause not forgetting good options.

These are just my thoughts, I use to buy cars for a garage and this is exactly what we looked for and would pay more for.

Cheers Phil

My C2 was Ocean/Savannah, and it wasn't an issue when I sold it. I think it is a nice contrast. Compared to the two Black Holes of Calcutta I have owned since then, it makes the interior much brighter and more spacious. I appreciate it isn't everyones cup of tea, but for those who are bold enough to be different it has many advantages over boring black.

Sadly though, £14k is optimistic. Take a look at Pistonheads Classified, and you'll find a couple of private sale 70k milers in the region of £9.5-11k. There are a lot with starship mileage, so yours should be more attractive than many.

On the plus side, it is a manual.

996 pricing is a bit of a mess lately. Plenty of unrealistically priced cars, just sitting in the classifieds.

For this example I'd expect a dealer might put it up at £12k and I'd suggest pitching it at £9750 and seeing if the 'phone rings.

Have a chat with Tom at 911 Virgin if you fancy a professional opinion.

See what happens to this one on ebay: http://r.ebay.com/YG2CaO I've said before on here how low ebay prices are - cars as good as this one looks typically go for between £7k and 9k.

I sold it for £10k via Pistonheads.

Was a great car that was needed nothing doing.

There's a lot of low price 996's around now. I advertised mine at 10995 and had no interest at all. It did have high mileage, but had pretty much brand new suspension components all round, recent tyres, refurbed wheels, new brakes, and a ton of other stuff. Body work was immaculate, on three small marks on it. I dropped to 9995 for a couple of weeks and still no calls.

I px'd it in the end for 8k :(

You're mileage was a little lower than mine, I'd think you could hold out at something like 9995 and will get someone eventually, but they will want to barter still.

Cheers,

Cheers,

I had a similar experience to you. I tried Autotrader at 10.5k back in October but didn't get a sniff. I tried to trade it in for a Merc in November but the dealer didn't want to know and it was his advice to try Piston Heads but I didn't get a sniff there either. I then tried ebay and got offered 9k, which I turned down thinking I'd try again in the spring. That's starting to look like a good offer now [:(]

The prices are a bit mad, but the potentially cheap non-cared for ones can still look shiny, have reasonable mileage and look attractive to buyers.

They are at the stage where more people are starting to be able to afford them, but are still looking for a bargain and will go with the cheaper option.

I thought I did pretty well to get 8k in PX against my Merc tbh. It wasn't ideal, but it wasn't even getting calls elsewhere :(
