Hi all,
i’m A new member and not sure if this is the right place to ask or not (apologies if not!). I’m going to take a few days to drive down through Luxembourg to the Black Forest, then back up via Porsche museum and the ‘Ring (spectator only), before heading home. The problem i’m having is in nailing down a route with as many good roads in it as possible!
has anyone done all or part of this journey and if so do you have any tips/maps that You might be able to share?
thanks in advance and a happy new year - swung by the Ace cafe earlier and it was a great end to 2018!
best,
Mark

Welcome to the club. The web site is a good resource for such information as there are many members who have a wealth of expience of such trips. I was helped by another member with details for the Italian Lakes Trip.

We did a similar route on the return leg of a trip to the Italian Lakes last year. Route was from Switzerland to Stuttgart and then on to Luxembourg and Strasbourg and return home via Channel Tunnel.

Porsche Museum was excellent with great underground car park. Tried to get on a factory tour but was during shutdown. May be worth enquiring if you can get on it depending on time of year,. There was a great deal of roadworks in the city last year hopefully now complete. You will need an emissions sticker, something that I was not aware of when we went but did not have a problem.

luxembourg is worth a look, city could probably be done in about half a day. worth filling up with fuel as lowest price in Europe.

we did the N500 in the Black Forest from Stuttgart to Herrenberg and on to Baden Baden. Pretty scenery but views limited by the forest. Nice stretch of road but a disappointing drive due to HGV’s and very few passing opportunities even on Weekday probably best avoided at weekend. Due to time constraints mainly used autobahn and autoroutes.

if you had more time Strasbourg is a great place to visit, more scenic than Luxembourg.

never been to the ring but it is on the to do list.

if you need any further info please Pm me.

Neil
