I fancy, and have been offered a beautiful Boxster RS 60, i would love some feedback on what forum members think of them

cheers
sam

If I was in a position to upgrade, this would be the car I would be looking at What Spec is it? red interior and roof? I was initially put off by the red, but now I quite like it Tim

Bear in mind the RS60 is little more than a parts bin special - designed as much to shift cars as anything else (despite the marketting hype). The good news is they have lost big money, as have all cars. If you fancy one go for it, but don't pay more than a similar spec 987S would be. The red leather is a bit bright for some, and combined with the red hod roof isn't evryone's cup of tea. There may be people who would buy a RS60 over other 987s in the future but if the 550 aniversary of the 986 series cars is anything to go buy they wont attract much more interest come sale time.

If you fancy it fine and I realy do like the RS 60 but against say the 996t Rather than an addition to your fleet then my answer would have to be NO, having driven a late 996 turbo I would prefer it to anything else. Its the all round package and the engine if cared for correctly is all but bullett proof.Good luck with your decision.

We purchased our new RS60 Spyder on September 1st last year and took it on the Italian lakes tour on the 5th doing 2200 miles. I can tell you it drives great and sounds good too. Its full of extras which if added to a normal Boxster S would have cost several thosand more than we paid. Our RS60 is silver with red interior and red roof. I also think the speedo cluster looks better without the cover.

unless there is a real problem with your 4 yr old 996TT i cannot imagine why you would even think of exchanging for a boxster ,whatever type, apart from a bit of open air.unless they are giving you an amazing deal, like the car plus 10k and a holiday in mauritius[:D]

So cruel, David, so cruel. I bought my 550 over a 987 because a) I wanted the rarity factor, b) they are extremely well spec'd and c) I prefer the interior of the 986 over the 987. Note that the OP didn't actually say they were interested in the RS60 instead of the 996!

Recently chatting to two seperate OPC sales persons and I mentioned I really fancy the red nappa full leather interior if I was speccing a new Boxster ever again unfortunately they both came back with a similar reply (which may even be unofficial OPC policy!) the red leather interior is a total no no and would make the car worth several thousand less than a similar car with standard colour interiors [&o] Perhaps we should have a poll set up and test the forum waters [:D]

I have no issue with the 550, in fact i think its a great spec'd car and i love the cocoa - an enthusiast will always try to seek out a 550 over a normal S when buying used, particularly as they don't command any real premium. The same will happen with the RS60 - It may attract buyers willing to travel a bit further to see it over a well spec'd 987S but i doubt you'd see much extra money in the sale. Buy it for yourself, not the next person - all cars are worth bugger all second hand now anyway :(

I had bright red leather in my old X1/9 VS - I loved it. Wanted bright red with my black Boxster S, but not the terracotta brown "Boxster Red". Wasn't available. Funnily enough the salesman didn't even mention the Exculsive Programme, where any option your good (or bad) taste desires can be had. Just "No, there isn't another red". Subsequently found "Lipstick Red" available as standard on German Cayennes (is it also available here?) which would have been perfect. So that was a long way of saying "Yes, another vote for Red here"[:D]

I love the red leather interiors too and would seriously consider it for my next car. I've got a bit of a fetish thing going on for a white box with a red roof and red interior... [:)]

The pictures of the RS60 with red leather don't do it justice - the red is too pinky and bright. They have one in Guildford OPC and in the flesh it looks really good.
