RS Battery Capacity Recommendations

I understand that the 964 RS originally left the factory with a puny 36 Ah battery (?), though I guess most cars have been updated over the years with one with a bit more "˜umph'. Currently my car has a huge "˜truck' sized 66 Ah battery for some reason, which doesn't fit very well and all the cables seem crammed in around it. I would therefore like to replace it with a smaller one, though still one of a sensible capacity. What size are people running in their RS's?

Thanks.

36Ah would be correct according to the Technical Service Information. Would suggest this was for lightness as much as not needing to run an alarm, central locking, foglights, interior light or ICE.

I havent had my RS long but did get caught in a monsoon while standing at the cash machine.......Car steamed up badly so had the heater on full, lights on and my retro fit CD on with no problems either later that evening or the following morning.

Would suggest originality is the way to go although any extra weight over the front wheels is good [:)]

I have a 4 year warranty battery from halfords, (can' t remember what was special about the chemistry) anyway it was higher capacity and both physically smaller and lighter than the Porsche one I removed,
worth a look for you lightweight boys,

Tony

I'm with 944Turbo and Halfords on this, 'cept I actually run the 36Ah battery - put the big one it came with on something else & put the halfords one on 3yrs ago, the car doesn't have a radio or any power sapping bits and the battery is always disconnect when its garaged. So far excellent (but always keep the receipt or they won't honour the warranty).

Ditto, smallest one from Halfords (36 a/h I think) always on charge when not in use. No problems so far! (touch wood)

My 993RS came with 72Ah battery from Exxon! Changed this recently to Bosch silver 70Ah (I think). I use a trickle charger while car sits in garage.
