What do you reckon chaps? Note use of imported Porsche lanyards as pull handles, as previously hinted at!

Was that a custom job by you, or is that available "off the shelf"?

Custom job. Just took off the original vinyl and retrimmed with some leatherette from ebay. Took a little time but worth it I think.

Ben,

I know you have already done the job, but having trimmed door cards before they look a LOT better if you put a layer of thin foam underneath the vinyl/leatherette. 6mm is the thickness that springs to mind. Weight increase is negligible, but it makes it look a lot better and gives a slightly more curvy effect.

BTW, when are those seats likely to be spare?

Oli.

Oli, I have one bucket seat now which I am hoping to have a mounting solution to very shortly. Then I will take the carpet up to have my harness mount fittings welded in, and refit the seat. So hopefully, next couple of weeks?

I was wondering that. The "D" rings that youve used to attatch the lanyards to the door done look strong enough...A good pull + they look like theyde snap off.....????
Otherwise, keep up the good work...

The doors aren't so heavy, most of the weight is supported by the hinges. The D rings are actually screwed through the door skin with a bolt on the other side, so I'm pretty sure they'll be fine[8|] Yes they are pass lanyards, but a removable part so I have not had to 'fiddle' with them to use them.

All of the weight is supported by the hinges, but the heavier they are the harder a time the lanyard will have.

A more durable solution woud be to retain the gold coloured bracket that attaches the oem handle/arm rest to the door. To the bottom of this bolt a section of seatbelt webbing, with a 15mm allen cap headed M6 bolt, nut and washer (through the existing hole in the bracket and through the corresponding hole in the door card capping). If you wanted to retain the lanyards with the Porsche namestyle, then Id clip them as short as possible and bolt that through in the same manner. Thatll bve durable and itll add under 50grammes per side.....
