RS Rear Carpets

Hi, i'm looking at ordering a complete set of carpets for a 964 RS as I am removing the rear seats from C2. Is anyone able to provide me some photos of their ' Real Macoy ' cars so that i can make sure what i am odering is correct and may make the job of fitting it all a touch easier ! I'm lloking at ordering the carpet set from www.appbiz.com - has anyone bought products from here - any views ?

Thanks

I'm not sure of the supplier you mention, but I've had a 964 RS carpet set from Southbound and it is in the original factory carpet with the correct embroidery. Full set was about £440. They can supply and fit it for a total of £778 + vat and do a really professional job. They also do the door panels and fittings for an RS for about £250 the pair.

Yes it includes new floor mats front and rear, but NOT over mats to protect the floor mats. If you fit it yourself remember that all the carpets are glued in except the front and rear floor mats.

Other points to note. The RS has carpet right over the rear bulkhead and right up to the rear side windows. Your C2 will have fitted trim in these areas, which will need removing if you're going for the full RS Lightweight look. The job is a whole lot easier if you remove the rear and side windows, but it can be done with the glass in if you have help and are very patient. Also you will be missing the box sections which cover the seat belt inertia reels. These are specific to the RS. In the C2 the belt reels are behind the trim which you're going to ditch.

Have fun. [:D]

That will make things a bit easier and effectively give you a 964 RS Touring look. If you tell them that when you order it may well be cheaper as you'll need slighlty less carpet.

.. will do.

My only concern is wether the rigidty of the car will be affected - I can't really see how but I read that the RS was strengthend in this area because of the lack of rear seats.

I would say the rear seats added nothing in terms of rigidity. The seat cushions simply add padding to an already incredibly stiff seat bowl and the seat backs have lateral play on their hinge points. You may have read that RS's have a seem welded chassis or extra welding in places to add strength. I very much doubt it was to make up for the loss of rear seats.

Let me know if you've read something different.
