RS SHIFTER

SECTOR

Hi you lucky RS people,
I have purchased an RS gear lever for my C4. My original lever was held on with a metal clip. According to Gert from Carnewal the new lever should just push on to the gear lever shaft. Yes you can push it on ok but it will pull off in your hand if not carefull when driving and im sure it sits to low ie the height.
How should a RS gear lever be secured to the shaft of the lever poking through the floor.
Please help.

Regards

Stephen

Stephen,

Certainly in my experience Gert is right, the shifter cover is a " push-fit " over the rectangular " blade" of the shifter that comes through the floor. It should be a tight fit so it shouldn't come off in your hands.

I've got no idea whether the profile of the lever coming through the floor is different between an RS and a C4 but can't imagine why it would be. Regards the height of the lever, have you compared old vs new ??

Cheers,

Ben.

RS lever is a different part No. to std car, not sure how much different they are, but I do have a nearly new one kicking about, my car came with a long lever (18"), I tried the std lever but found it too far from the wheel, and.......it some times came off when changing 1st-2nd and 3rd-4th!

Thank you all for your replies.
Gert has told me to glue it on. May be that will do the trick.
Cheers,
Stephen.
