I have purchased a RS shifter from Carnewal.

My original shifter was held in place with a clip and the shifter was quite heavy, this new lever is very light.

My gear changes are now slightly notchy, is this due the weight loss. Also having looked through the window of a car fitted with a RS shifter it appeared to be mounted higher that mine ie, taller. I am wandering whether I have something missing, is my shifter to short.

Has anybody fitted a RS shifter. Please can you help.
Regards
Stephen

Has anyone else done this mod??.........

Sector....is there a definate feeling of "notchiness" or do you think it just needs getting used too?

I've purchased one from Carnewal and will be having it fitted in the next few weeks.

day1zero and sector it looks like you are using each others "too" and "to". Please do a swap

We are talking about the replacing of the standard gear knob for an RS version.
The shifter is a lot lighter and is shorter than the original. I think this is why it it feels slightly harder to change gear.

I have purchased a RS shifter from Carnewal.

The shifter on Carnewal's site is listed as being available for C2 & C2S only - could this be the issue?

Presumably there are differences in the mechanism. As an aside B&M only list a shifter for the RWD models as well.

Has anyone fitted a short shifter to a C4/C4S?

It says the shifter from Gert fits all P993 with manual transmision.
I am just talking about the gear knob and gaiter.

Stephen - ah I see we are only talking about the leather bit that sits on top of the mechanism, apologies for confusing the issue.

If when fitted the RS item does not 'stick up' as far as the original item then the amount of effort required will be greater than before which would explain the notchiness you are experiencing. I doubt the reduction in weight would have a noticeable effect.

My silly RS gear lever that I purchased from Gert.
To fit it, it just pushes on the shaft that comes into the car from below. The lever will come off in your hand if not carefull, surely this cant be correct. Gert says it just pushes on, but its to loose.
Has anyone else fitted one.

Stephen
