RS SIDE SKIRTS

Hi all,

I have recently had to have new sill skirts supplied and fitted by Porcshe. I am now on my 3rd set as, the black finish keeps flaking off, leaving a brownish finish beneath.
They have given up now and are getting them painted black for me.
Anyone else had problems, also bit worried about painting, will it stone chip etc ??

Regards

Stephen.

Quite surprised , have had loads of skirts , usually as the protruding bits that go into the sill slots get broken off ,never had a problem like u describe ..........Cup Car ,rs ,rscs over abt 10 years As a lot of Porsche parts lately, maybe someone else making them up, not to old standard ?

Thanks for reply, I think that is the case as my originals were fine until brackets got broke.

Hi Where the brackets/clips break.Buy some Black tiger seal from any good motor factors. Apply a 10mm long run of this on the body and plastic side skirts, where the clips used to be.Apply some good tape like carpet tape to keep the skirt in position for a couple of hours. You can also pack some wood under the skirts to keep the skirt in place until set.It will never come off, unless you want it to with a small cut through the sealer/tiger seal.Lasts for ever and of course way cheaper than new skirts that will also break in no time. I have seen a few skirts with stone chip damage showing the under plastic, which i think in time changes colour with day light etc Hope this helps

Those clips are pants -mine on the Cup were glued on with 'No Nails' before respray!!

Melv, isn't that what everybody does ? Actually, I've just fitted a new pair on the Development Car --- and had the CS spoilers painted the right colour --- So the original set is for sale, the development set ?? [:D][:D] Please don't tell me I have to keep them !

Errr . Chris. you should keep them, they are part of the history. Just think about your future nightmares once they will be gone! And all the hard work to buy them back... and the money you´ll loose![:D]

Chris, unless they are different from the replacements, I would sell, you will probably get around 40% of the new price, plenty of C2's wanting the RS look, now if you want some rare parts, speak to Julian aka Silver 7 who recently bought some new Aluminium door shells, unbelievable the price of these from Porsche, I believe they are in the region of €14,000 plus vat ![]

Thanks for the voice of sanity Steve [;)] Yes they are the same as all the rest --- tags break off, surface turns grey ... etc !
