RSR + 100 cell cats too much?

I'll shortly be adding some Dansk split flow 100 cell sports cats to my '96 4S and was wondering if anyone had these or similar already fitted to a 993 with RSR's on?

I've heard RSR's on a friends car and I love them but I'm worried that RSR's AND 100 cell cats may be too loud? my ideal would be the RSR sound you get from a car with standard cats on.

So given that the 100 cell cats are definitely going on I wonder if people could answer any of these questions:

1. Do sports cats add a lot more volume to a car already with RSR's?
2. Has anyone got a 993 with standard mufflers plus sports cats (that's 100 cell - NOT decat) ? - I was thinking the sports sound from that setup may be adequate and don't need the standard mufflers 'RSR'ing'
3. As an aside - my car has actually got Dansk sports mufflers on at the moment and I'd decided to get rid of them because of the resonance. But has anyone tried these with the 100 cell cats, not sure if the 2 mated up works well and perhaps loses the resonance?

Questions, Questions - any snippets appreciated.

PS - posted on rennlist also.

Talk to any of the reputable tuners and the honest answer is that up to around 700 BHP a 200 cell cataltyic converter is as efficient as a 100 cell. The problem with 100 cell cat's is that resonance can be a problem.

That sounds logical Mike, I don't doubt it - the thing is I don't know of any 200 cell cross flow (ie seperate cat per bank of cylinders) for sale? The Dansk one's inparticular appeal to me.

Do you have sports cats on at the moment?

Hi Kenny

We don't I'm afraid as we deal mostly with the 996 Turbo and we are just working on the 997 Turbo. Try giving Milltek a call, they may well have something on the shelf.

OK thanks Mike - I meant your own 993 when I asked about sports cats, didn't know you were 'in the biz', thanks anyway.

I'll take a look at the Milltek site.

Hi Kenny

Sorry didn't realise you were referring to my own 993. It's running the standard cats and just a pair of Milltek back boxes. They are the same pattern as they apparently produced for RUF. They have a really nice note but aren't loud and do not cause resonation inside the car. In fact on the recent Classic Car Action Day at Castle Combe which I did with Region 16 they registered 96.4 dB which is fairly quite. My involvement in 'the business' is I run the operational side of DMS Automotive.

Mike
