I guess you afficionados will have more idea of how genuine this is. I saw it advertised in my local free paper, don't suppose it'll arouse much interest there...

No personal interest, thought it might be of use,

Phil

Hmmmmmmmm...........seen the car at a couple of shows looked nice as any RS get it checked out....simply 420BHP in 964RS!!!!!!!!!! enough to scare the badger population to France.............

I've also seen this car advertised and must say initially I'm tempted. Before going down the road of travelling to W. Sussex, checking VIN numbers and getting PPI arranged - I'd like to know the general opinion of you 964RS people in the know...

Is it a barge-pole job, or if it was you would you take a closer look at it?

Thanks in advance.

Do not know about this specific car, but the model is supposed to be RUF's favourite, by the RUF man himself.

If its genuine, its a bargain at the current asking price of £32950. However, I really do wonder what it is. It has many non RS features like aircon and electric windows. The door cards don't seem right and the seat cushions are the same colour. The centre consul looks wrong and the steering wheel is not original, although that is common to many.

However, it might be based on a Touring as I have never seen the interior of one.

If it is a genuine RS chassis, the next question is its value. IMO, it depends on how much of the non standard stuff was done in the original conversion and on the overall condition. If it can be shown that the car is, effectively, the same as when it was first modified by RUF, that would be good. On top of that, such a powerful car will be hard on components so i would want to be sure that the suspension and brakes were in good order.

Assuming a good proven history and good service record, I think the car is very good value. But it is a specialist car and will only appeal to a few. Now, if you buy it and want to swap the engine for an original one......................................................[;)]

I asked Paul Mc about it last year when it was on ebay....if you have a quiet word I'm sure he'll give you a list of 'appropriate' questions to ask[;)]

Yep - that's the lucky bu99er.
He initially saw the car, wasn't sure whether to buy, decided not to - then decided he did really want the car a few days later just before I was due to view and had already done a ton of research. But I'm over it now, honest! [:(]

Thank you once again to everyone who generously spent time telling me about the car.
