For those of you interested we are having a run out to GMUND cars in Knaresborough on Sunday the 7th of May, meeting at Scotch corner services at 10am, I believe Yorkshire region are attending as well, it is an open day for GMUND so come and join us.

Hi Nick,

If you are interested, I would suggest the below route for all those that are meeting at Scotch corner as there are some excellent roads - often go this way when going to Gmund:

From Scotch Corner head south and turn off onto A6136;
At lights turn left onto B6271 towards Northallerton (good Porsche road) [:D];
Once into Northallerton turn right at mini roundabout then over railway crossing onto A167;
Continue up the high street, at the small roundabout at the top of the high street turn right following signs for Ripon (A61), over the next small roundabout, then follow signs A167 (excellent road [:D]) towards Ripon.
At roundabout turn right on A61 towards Ripon;
Follow A61 by-pass:
Continuing on the A61 towards Harrogate/Knaresborough. Pass Ripley village "" at the next roundabout turn left onto B6165 towards Scotton/Knaresborough.
Turn left off B6165 into Scotton village, through village (beware blind left corner at pub!) come out of village and speed limit will reduce to 20mph near school "" just before school turn right onto Market Flat Lane and Gmund Cars is on the right of the hill.

Should take about an hour depending on traffic and speed of course! - Just thought it would be better than travelling down the A1!

What are likely to be the timings for the day? If I am going to be able to get a 'pass out' I need to manage expectations with SWMBO.

By the way - I nipped out at lunchtime and sampled some of the proposed route from Scotch Corner to Northallerton. A very nice road with some nice series of bends and reasonably good surface. There are some roadworks just coming in to Yafforth. If I don't make it out on the 7th have a nice trip out.
Cheers,

Graham

My local run to & from my daughters nursary [:D] It is a road you can have some serious fun on & if you know it well [;)]

Not heard anything from you James - have you just come out of hibernation!!!

You missed a good run out on Easter Sunday - you would have known the route much better - weather good and roads exceptionally quiet compared to around Helmsley and Pickering. You would have enjoyed our run to Whitby in March - you could always have washed the salt off the car after - although to be fair most roads were dry.

Regards
John

Hi John ( & Rita [:)] )

I've been busy with babies & house renovations. Expect to see me & my yellow car with daughters in tow sometime soon [:D]

Any info on likely timings yet - I know you were having trouble attending Nick, but apart from 10am meet at Scotch corner we dont have much more info !
Is a pub lunch proposed and is it intended to drive back in convoy or can we make our own way back - I need to split from A1 on return run.

Chris

Hi Chris, meeting at scotch corner for 10am, travelling down to gmund cars probably around the 1030am mark and I believe it is an open day with a bit of a buffet on, I don't know what John has planned if anything regarding a meal later. There are no hard or fast rules when leaving, you can just do your own thing if you like.

Did you get my email about Eynsham hall??

Thanks Nick - I'll be there.
Still thinking about the Festival, but if I go I'll probably do my own thing re accomodation as I have friends down there.

Despite the weather forecast the sun has now appeared over the North Sea so it looks as though it will be a good run out - hope to meet up with you all from further 'up north' again around lunchtime.
