Run to the Rhein - UK/Germany - 2nd - 6th June

As some of you may know, we have floated the idea of a Region trip to the Eifel region of Germany this Summer, an initiative of Paul daCosta. Paul has been checking out the details and these are provisionally outlined by him below....

Dates:
Outward: Thurs 2nd June
Return: Mon 6th June.

Itinerary (provisional):
Take the Eurotunnel on Thursday evening to get to a Premier Classe or similar motel in the Calais area for the evening so we could set off after breakfast the next morning. Anyone wanting to join the next day for the run down would probably need to set off very early to get the train the Thursday morning, but at least the M25 would be quiet! As we would like to get off about 9:00 ish.

Hotels in and around Nürburg area are in the region £70-80 a night and to find an appropriate one with decent parking I would like to know roughly how many people would like to go.

There are many great drives, towns, cake shops, lakes and views in the Eifel region as well as the Nürburgring Nordschleife (Ring) itself which I'm sure many of you are familiar or know about and would like to try out at the weekend.
There is something in the area for everyone whether you want a sporting weekend or a relaxing drink in the town squares and a cruise.

Planning to return home late morning on the Monday with a return crossing early evening.

As a guide the drive from Calais is about 4.5 to 5hrs.

Costs (guide):
With hotel (3 nights), Eurotunnel, overnight stay (Calais) you are looking at around £400 for a car and 2 people plus food and fuel.

Now Paul has kindly provided these details we need to gauge the level of interest so we can go ahead (or not) with reservations. If you are seriously interested in taking part in 'the R31 Run to the Rhein' please post a reply asap below....

Brilliant! Sounds like a fun trip please count Sarah and I in.

Many thanks to you Paul, Alan & Fiona

Anyone else?
Just need to know so as to what hotel to choose. The trip will go ahead regardless as I have some friends who go with us every year in performance machinery and never fail to have a great time.
Probably need to wrap this up by later next month so we can book channel crossings and accommodation .
Cheers
Paul

Would anyone else like to go?
I have made the trip 1 day shorter i.e leave a day later. I have about 7 rooms reserved up to now at the Hotel Zurburg in Nurburg.
Cost about £72 a night double and £50 single.
Cheers
P
