Running costs

My 993 has had repair/maintenance costs of £17,833.30 over 13 years and 166k miles - so that is about £1400 per year. Looked at another way, that is just 11p per mile - and that's mainly OPC as well. I've always said to others you must use them to get the value out of them !! I am sure they need less repair if they are used frequently.

This thread would probably give you good indication... everything that ever needs doing generally costs from 1,500 up. http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=383816&mpage=1&key=&#383816

Hi

I'm looking at maybe changing my 944 for a 993, and using that as my daily driver.

I just wondered what sort of average/typical runnning costs there are for a 993. I use an independant specialist for all servicing & repairs and over the last 3 years annual bills have ranged from £500 in a good year, to £2,000 in a bad year. Those sorts of figures I can live with, but is the 993 in this sort of ball park, or higher?

Thanks

OK, although, that's not work that NEEDS doing on a daily driver - it's going to make the car very high standard. I've only had my car 2 years so no where near long enough to tell. Very useful to have John's long term information. My two years have been in alignment with John's long term average. Apart from servicing, my two big costs so far have been clutch and a full set of rubber. (Touching wood as about to take car to Spain and I don't want it breaking down on me)

i've had mine 5 years, had 5000 miles when I got it now got 50,000 if you include tyres i reckon its cost approaching 2K a year but that's all OPC. goes in once a year and I never get out at under a grand. never had any major failure - shocks, discs, one clutch, various bushes and electrics plus servicing. still runs like new and very low depreceation - now close to being an appreciating asset. better daily driver imho than a 944 (and I have one of those as well). One of the world's great cars and arguably the prettiest 911. go for it.

The biggest cost maybe petrol if it's a daily runner and you clock up a few miles, I get 23-24mpg for fuel which is about £4K/year. Insurance, just renewed, Privilege beat my old company (Adrian Flux) by about £100, even with an RS bodykit (which a lot of online companies won't touch). Sometime when I've got a grand or three to spare my aircon needs fixing, suspension is maybe starting to show some signs of wear and that's on top of new disks/pads for the front.
