Running in, please pass!

Just by way of an update, brought the car to work again today to try and speed up the running in process, hence I'm now up to 800 miles on the new engine and beginning to use all of the revs and boy does it sound good!

Going back in to Unit 11 end of next week for the 1000 mile post rebuild oil change and tappet adjustment.

Having done 600 miles in the last 2 weeks, there have been no real 'shake down' issues, although I do have two massively irritating squeaks to attend to - one comes from the front rhs ventilation fan at 0 or 1 speeds (beginning to really get on my nerves now!) and the other is coming (I think) from the rear side window rubber and will be solved with some silicone spray that I bought from Halfwits.

Only when you start using a car 'properly' day to day that the little niggles start to appear[8|]

Apart from that, I'm loving every second.

Off to a rolling road session on Saturday morning that Lee (Lemon on 944 forum) has organised on the Wirral.

Should be up to 900 miles by then, so will be interested to see what it makes 'out of the box' before I get it remapped by Wayne[:)]

The Wevo engine mounts that I fitted, definitely make a difference as the car feels more alive, plus I get a free back massage...[:D]

Sounds good [:)].

By coincedence, I had to put the boxster off the road at the weekend so have been commuting in the 964. The car seems to love this...the only trouble is resisting the temptation to put my foot down.

BTW how are you finding the LWF in traffic?

I think they definitely run better after regular use - my old 944 turbo certainly did.

The LWF is fine from a stalling perspective, as the DME was reset at the time of installation and seems to have adapted very well. The main issue in traffic is the RS clutch as it is both heavier than the standard one and less forgiving, so I have had to get used to it. Initially was using too many revs when setting off from rest for fear of stalling but getting better now!

Not too much town driving on my 35 mile commute, so not too much of an issue.

Still need to tweek the KWs further, but that'll have to wait until i have the time.
