Rust behind door latch on B Pillar

Hi All,

My 2002 996 has devoloped behind the door latch on the drives side B Pillar. I thought this had been sorted out by Porsche on post 2000 cars. I also hear that Porsche refuse to cover it under the 10 year anti rust warranty? Any recommendations on where to get this fixed for a reasonable price?

You think and hear correctly. The later latch has a plastic membrane on the back, which is supposed to stop it happening. I have never heard of a case where it has been fixed under warranty.

Where are you located?

Thanks for the replies all, I'm based in Wimbledon or the Surrey area so any places near those locations would suit. I normally get any work done by the OPC in Byfleet, but I think that they would charge me around £450 + VAT for this work.
It's quite amazing that Porsche don't cover this. It's clearly a design fault not an external influence. Although I believe that they would actually claim that the door latch is the external influence! Does make you wonder if anyone has managed to claim successfully under the 10 year body guarantee.

I don't know if it is too far from you, but Specialised Paintwork at Reading (just behind Porsche OPC) are highly regarded. They are not linked to the OPC, so not Porsche prices.

Maybe someone local to you may be able to chime in with a recommendation.....

... and they give PCGB a 10% discount.

...... and they will only consider honouring the 10 year guarantee if it has been examined every year by the OPC and had the service booked stamped.

Been there - done that !!!! No success either.

Thanks for the replies, if anyone could recommend a good bodyshop which won't charge the earth in the Wimbledon or Redhill area it would be much appreciated.
