Rust on brake Discs

I've just had new disc fitted all round which looks grreat when i picked the car up. Two weeks later however the 'hub' part of the disc is now covered with rust. Is there anything that done to fix this as it doesn't look that nice.

Cheers.

Graham,

Tell me about it!!! Mine have gone the same and I wished I'd done something about it before they were fitted. Some discs come already painted but many don't these days. It seems the consensus is to paint the "hub" part of the disc with a zinc coating - it needs to be high temperature resistant and it's one of those jobs which is a real pain to do once the discs are fitted. I have very limited space and resources so it's just a pain getting the car jacked up, wheel off, wire brush the hub to get it clean and then mask the area and paint it. I really MUST do mine because, as you say, it looks terrible. If only I had garage space!!!

Regards

Dave

thanks Dave. I have a great local garage that I think would do this for not too much money. Are you able to recommend a product? Would Halfords sell something?

Are they non-OEM disks? I think OEM disks dont rust but i've recently fitted Zimmerman front disks which have a reputation for rusting bells. Apparently Halfords do a silver Zinc paint that is popular with other Zimmerman users. Every non-Porsche i've had have always rusted on the bells so it doesn't really bother me but I was impressed to see the OEM disks I removed were free from rust.
