Rust repair

Hi Jabriel

I had my car done by Chris in North London at [link=http://www.911bodyshop.co.uk/,]http://www.911bodyshop.co.uk/,[/link] my car was done a long time ago so can't say who's doing the work there now but Chris did my car for me and it was very good, he's in Wembley near the stadium assuming he's still in the same location.

Not sure what has happened to Tom, I know he moved premises and had phone issues for a while, I would have thought that it should be sorted by now. My car has been done by Wayne twice over the last 17 years of ownership and will be done by him again once I have finished adding goodies to it, if I can make contact that is........:)

Pete

Thanks Pete.

I remember you mentioned Chris to me before. I haven't had a chance to see him yet. Do you know if he would be able to address the rust issues?

If you do manage to get hold of Wayne, book me in too! :)

Wayne finished the tuning of my car a while back and did a sterling job !

In terms of body work repairs, my car is currently at Retro Restorer at Banbury (just a quick drive up from North London !) might be worth checking them out if you haven't already.

Another recommendation for you is Mark Fish Engineering based just outside Harlow - jn 7 of the M11. I cant recommend Mark highly enough for the quality of his work, particularly bodywork. He's done a lot of bodywork for me over the years, including both sills on my 951.

Speak to him first - 01279 431628 or 07775 752675 [link=http://markfish.co.uk/]http://markfish.co.uk/[/link] if you check out the 5GT turbo gallery at the bottom of the gallery page, you'll see my green & white Eve renault 5 GT turbo....

Yours

Chris Grahame

Just to add I know Mr McN used somewhere in High Wycombe he seemed happy with. Am sure he could point you in their direction.

Yes to rust issues, I had him replace my N/S outer sill iirc about 10 years ago and it's still as good as new having just given it a new coat of underseal recently. He's not cheap though so be warned which is why I did the work myself recently for the other side that had issues with it's inner sill near the torsion bar, well I say I did it but really it was done by my son and his body guy. They will give my car a full respray in due coarse, as a temp measure we will do the n/s front wing in the next few weeks just to make her look pretty again. This wing is testimony to how well the early cars were built, I've had a small corrosion patch on this wing for over 10 years which has hardly changed at all with the galvanisation doing it's job well, this was confirmed in a recent examination when we did the inner sill, it shouldn't take much work to fix it good as new...:)

Alas I would say ask my son but's he's far to busy right now, plus his body guy is looking for a permanent shop with facilities for a spray booth and oven, my son's present premises isn't really suitable for bodywork and certainly not spraying, I'm lucky as he clears the shop for working on my car, but a full respray is out of the question until new premises are found.

I had strongly considered selling my car earlier this year. I even got as far as writing up a lengthy advert but for whatever reason, didn't end up putting it on sale. So now I've decided to tidy up the car and complete the tuning.

I'm struggling to find someone to repair the rust on the car. (Usual areas but not the sills. They're fine.) The paintwork is also tired and could/should be refreshed.

Is there anyone here who can make a recommendation for the rust & paint work? I'm based in N London but willing to travel. Maybe someone on here may be willing to take this on? I'm happy to pay anyone a fair price for a good job. (The car is garaged so I'm not in a desperate hurry but would like it done this year if possible.)

I did consider buying Tom's kit but haven't heard from him in a couple of months so thinking of going to Wayne to complete the tuning on the car. I know he uses the 9m dyno and having reviewed the 9m website, they also do restoration/bodywork so I may be able to tie it all up and have it done at the same time but I know Wayne is difficult to get hold of so who knows how/when/if that will ever happen??

Paul Baker just outside Southampton, he's worked on a few 944's now through recomendations so he knows his way around the bodywork [link=http://www.pbcm.co.uk/]http://www.pbcm.co.uk/[/link]

Classic and Custom Works in Penn. Mention my name, as he seems to have a 944 in there every time I pass and I need some work doing so need him to remember me. :ROFLMAO:

I've just got my S2 back from Paul. Not cheap, but a proper job, fully documented & regular updates on what's happening. Looks top notch!
