Rust Repairs

Over the past year I have had a spot of rust getting larger at the bottom of the rear quarter panel just in front of the rear wheel on the offside.
On inspection we found that the nearside had also started on the inside although not actually showing through.
The cause, the small square brackets on the inside of the rear panels these are accompanied by a fixing, both have a thread though I have no idea what for.
Interested to know what these where for? and could this be the start of other people's dreaded sill rot?

What do you guys think?

Edited to add the pic links for you - Paul

On my 944S2 that bracket holds on the rear of the small black side skirts, will be the same on the turbos, I noticed these too on the Lux's I have owned, perhaps the side skirts were options of the Lux?

You can see it at the bottom of this photo [;)]

Fen, thanks for the info

Paul, thanks for edit

Wondered why it hadn't worked as I had used same method as on Jaguar forum.

Oh dear ... where do we start with that one, eh?

Jaguars are 944's are different cars.

And their forums work differently.

You won't expect to find a fine havanna cigar in the ashtray of a 944, and you would be surprised if a jag was still in existence (let alone fine fettle) after 150k miles and 20 years.

So why do you think that posting pictures on the respective forums (fora?) would be the same?

( :ROFLMAO: )

Andy,

Good answer!

(Reminds me ... I have some fine Turkish cigars in my study, which I must get around to smoking ... they will go particularly well with a glass or two of port after the Christmas dinner, to be enjoyed with my father, I think ... )
