Rust spot on front wheel arch

Went to see the 996 today whilst its being prepped for pick up at the dealers

i noticed a rust spot at the bottom of the passenger front wheel arch where the sill meets the wheel arch

has anyone experienced this?

looks like stone chips thats not been treated

Yes, I've had the same on the offside front arch, but I've just treated it and painted it and in 4 years it's not reappeared. Should be galvanised so shouldn't spread, I hope!

Is that caused by stone-chip damage, do you think?

I was thinking of Waxoyling the old girl before things get going (galvanising doesn't last forever).

I guess a dab of Hammerite would do the job?

I just used Kurust then painted it with smooth hammerite (silver) that roughly matches my arctic silver 996.

Have found the same problem, tried hamerite but living in a rural area, the roads have a lot of very aggressive stones on the roads that chip away at the paint as soon as its applied. Going to try some clear 3M film on the area, if it works on helicopter blades think my wheel arch will be given a bit of protection with the film.

What a coincidence, last night I touched up both front wheel arches in exactly the same areas, primer, touch up paint and loads of lacquer. Model is 2002 turbo
