Rusty Exhaust Seam - Near Side

New member
Hi All,

Whilst cleaning the car I notice the lower seam of the main exhaust box on the near side is rusty but appears solid - from what i can the outer edge of the box seam has rusted away from the inner but the box itself looks sound.

Is this a common experience and does it indicate a new exhaust being required in the near future?

Plus is there anyone who knows where I can find a nearly new/OE replacement exhaust for a C4 coupe or would anyone have one for sale?

Thanks,

Steve

The seams do go a bit crusty, where the welding affects the rust-resistance of the stainless steel. They can look a bit naff, but they don't usually leak.

Keep an eye on eBay, as they often come up. You can usually get a really good pair for £100-120.

I've just been through exactly the same thing on my C4 and got some from Ebay, and there are a pair on there at the moment. Also, when I mentioned it on a thread here a few weeks back (recommending the breakers who I'd used)another member indicated that he had a pair going very cheap. May be worth looking back over the messages.
