rusty nuts

Has anyone had the rusty nut problem? My MY06 C4S has developed this ailment. I seem to remember some thing on the forum about it some time ago. Is there a solution or is off to opc Glasgow for a warranty claim discussion?

Hi Dave
Yes, unfortunately this is a very common problem for Boxster/911 owners. Both my Boxster and 911 have had trips to the OPC to have them replaced under warranty.[:'(]
Some members have replaced them with s/steel (I seem to recall a group buy a while back on one of the forums) or cap them.
Using phosphoric acid based wheel cleaners (now being phased out I understand) only exacerbates the corrosion, and indeed can cause the coloured crest of the wheel centres to drop off.
I'd take it back and have it fixed under warranty, and re-iterate that all Porsche parts come with a 12 month warranty, so if they go rusty again in 12 months you'll be claiming for another new set![;)]
Have fun.
Rob

I noticed I had the same issue this weekend after power-washing my car for the first time in ages (since they lifted the hosepipe ban here).

I am contacting my OPC now to see if I can get them replaced for new ones.

Many thanks for this thread as otherwise I would have never even considered the possibility [:D]

Should not be a problem.

Took mine in to Bournemouth OPC for first service and they replaced the nut under warrenty without me having to ask!

One of the few things Porsche that came "free"

I've not removed any wheels off mine yet so I'm not absolutely sure but these are bolts not nuts, aren't they?
