Rusty Nuts!

I have recently noticed that the majority of the wheel nuts on my 03 boxster have gone rusty. I remeber there being a post about this but cant remember what it said. It is covered under an extended warrantee but when i took it in for its service today the service chap informed me that these were not covered!?!?!?! Is he just fobbing me off and should i take this up with them or porsche GB. Thanks in advance

Your nuts aren't covered! (actually they are bolts) Very common problem. You can either get plastic 'chrome' covers or replace them all. Around £4 each IIRC. Do a search on the forum for suggestions as to where to get replacements.

Same year, same problem on mine and no they are not covered under extended warranty... also got the web like corrosion on the front wheels which again was told is not covered even under the 3 years paint warranty [>:] some GT3 guys are trying to build up a case on this, but I doubt Porsche will open the flood gates for everyone to claim on the alloy corroison...

I had this problem but by buying new ones it shall just happen again i repainted mine cost of paint is far cheaper, then decided to get the bolt covers from Porsche shop they do the job, it looks so much better.

Chrome bolts available from FVD at £6 each for following models, which is only 50% more expensive than the rubbish Porsche offering. I have not purchased any so can't comment on quality.

Doesn't help that most popular wheel cleaners attack your nuts. Mine are still OKish (03/03 at 53k) but I've never used wheel cleaner on them....mind you, hasn't stopped the Boxster II wheels corroding around some of the spoke edges (fronts only - must be the brake dust).

I have to agree. They only went rusty after i used wheel cleaner on them. Plus they clean up ok without it which is a bit annoying. Never mind. Thanks for the advice all i think in the end i will cover my nuts up!!
