Rusty sills - S2

I have the dreaded rust starting to break through the rear of the sills - just in front of the rear wheels. As mine is an S2 it has the black plastic trims under the sills, which I think is the cause of the problem as the road dirt gets trapped between the metal sill and plastic trim. I have searched the forum for more info on repairing them but can't find the thread. I assume it's better to have the rot cut away and have new pieces welded in place rather than use filler. I don't think the whole sill will need replacing as I have removed the air vents in the door frame and all looks OK in there. I'm in Chichester (West Sussex/Hants border) - does anyone know a good bodyshop that could do the job?

Well the best thing to do is to replace the outer sill but it is not the cheapest way. I went to a local bodyshop and the technique they suggested for small areas that cannot be rescued was to cut out the effected area and weld in a replacement patch. In my case it was rust in the bottom of the wing and he quoted me £700 for the repair, strip back of the wruth covered area along the sill, re-application of the wruth and spraying up. This was for both sides. Never went through with it as someone rear ended me shortly after so I got the OPC to carry out the work courtesy of the insurance company.
