Rutland Water 2016

I would be interested having recently moved from Surrey from to north Norfolk so making it quite local.

No date as yet, after 5 years culminuting in last year's outstanding turnout & success it may be hard to compete? Bit like the 1st & then the 2nd Bedford 944 track days ??

This is year the format will be different..........

More time to chat & poke around other cars would be good.... I ran out of time last year.

Less fussed about a sit down meal although food is good..[:)]

Any thoughts on this yet Andy ? Leave it too long and there'll be no chance of snow...

No sorry I have a lot on the go at present and also attempting to get the new garage extension through planning - if that is successful I will even busier.
I think this year at this moment in time I will have to say it will be a year off, unless anyone else can step in?

I had originally planned to have the meet early May, the ladies and the 4 legged friends would find it a little more pleasant, instead of the White Horse meal the intention was to use the Harbour Bar Cafe, people could eat (or not) as and when it was convenient, or maybe a picnic.... there would be no rush to leave and can spend all day kicking those tyres, take a walk around the water etc.

Afternoon all!! I just logged in for the first time in months to see when this is!! :)
Andy, if the plan is for no pub and staying at Rutland Water - which is a good idea I think - then does it need any organising other than picking a date?
I'm a bit stuffed for time so can't offer to take the weight off you, but would be great to meet up if we can have another meet again :)

It is my understanding that, whilst they are sanguine regarding small gatherings, a group of the size we normally bring requires prior authorisation from the land owner (Anglian Water). It's not quite as simple as "just picking a date".

Finally got myself a road going S2 and I'm only in P'boro so would definitely interested in coming along. Really welcome the (gentle) kicking of my tyres and advice as only had the car for a few months - only issue is my calendar pretty rammed :(

I'm happy to propose a date and then sort out the logistics with Anglian Water if that's what's needed.
The last weekend of March is Easter Sunday... most people will have plans I suspect. So I suggest we pick a weekend in April?

May might have nicer weather... but if there's not a risk of snow or torrential rain... it wouldn't be Rutland!!!

You may get a few more northern brethren attending if you leave it until end of April / Early May as our cars tend to come out of hibernation around this time.

Leaving it to the end of April / Early May rather defeats the point of the Rutland Gathering, in my opinion. It has always been about it being a "mad event in the middle of winter" with the added "fun" of dodging the snow showers. There seems little point in having it, if it is just going to be another run-of-the-mill "park your Porsches up and kick the tyres" affair. There are plenty of those already. Rutland will have lost its USP.
