S.2 Exhaust options.....

I have a very small blow in my original exhaust, hardly noticeable, but will require replacement in the not too distant. Having done a bit of search round, these appear to be the options.......

1) Original from OPC - only if you're clinically insane

2) Dansk - Seems to be the preferred option at around £185 delivered

I actually fancy something with a slightly larger single tailpipe - RPM do one at £378 but I don't like the flattened tail. The best looking I've seen is the SAR/Essential Styling one, but at £454 it's a bit pricey, but as I've already got their de-cat pipe, that might be the best option.

Any other suggestions welcome

How about repairing the existing one, or geting hold of a second hand one from ebay or a breaker?

I got my full second hand one (from a 40k car) for £42 on ebay. Looked like new when I'd taken off a bit of grime.

Not quite what I had in mind seeing how much I've spent in the last 12 months on the car [:)]

The one on the left might suit nicely....does anyone here have one fitted ?

Mr Sims has the one on the left fitted to Beaky if I recall correctly and very snazzy it looks too. I had the twin pipe version on my old car which looks really neat though of course its that much further from the original design.

Hi Jon,

I wouldn't have given it serious consideration purely for aesthetics, but as a necessary replacement, I like the fact that it is in keeping with the original styling only that wee bit bigger.

Mr Sims...do you have a close up piccie to hand on Beaky[8D]

Richard, I took the liberty of checking Johns website in his profile. There's a good rear view (ooer) amongst his gallery.

Wolfie - I picked up a 2nd hand ESS (actually JanSpeed) S2 rear box for a-lot-less-than-new. It was the 6x4 oval version, which looks a lot better than the std pipe but is a bit tooo big for my liking. I would have preferred 5x3 to 6x4.

The twin pipe version looks nicer to my eyes.

Graham on here subsequently bought it from me when I sold the car.

Hi Mik,

Sounds like you got a good deal there. Agree the 6x4 may be a bit OTT on a humble S.2 - better suited to a turbo that's been 'fiddled with'. [:D] I think you're right, maybe a 5x3 may be more the ticket. I knew it was a Janspeed item and as not listed on their website, I phoned them and am awaiting a return call. The girl I spoke to didn't think it'd be a problem as it would be made to order.

Graham....have you fitted to your car yet?..... piccies please.

Martyn - I didn't think to mention Hayward and Scott as I believe theirs is circa £600 [:(]

does anyone know how much a full OPC exhuast is, out of interest?

if you go non-standard, do you need to disclose to insurer?

Always a grey area IMO. Best thing would be to phone up the insurers and tell them, but think of all the cars out there with non genuine exhausts which IME are of a poorer quality than genuine or uprated parts anyway!

I've heard good reports about these folks - base is Exeter, but they seem to have a fair few depots dotted around.

Might be worth a try - they make up roll-joined rather than welded seam stainless systems

My own is nearing replacement and I'll probably give them a go.

Powerflow dealers are a bit of a lottery really. Some do a good job, others can be pretty poor. From what I can tell, they tailor the sound of the exhaust to your specs.
