Can anyone help out an S2 owner?

He's been asked for the details of his security system - make, model etc. - by his insurance company.

Anybody know what was fitted?

Paul,

Your best bet is to go into a Porsche dealer, they'll identify and certify your particular device.
As i understand it, they won't charge for this

Just had a look at the Alarm information card that's with my s2cab to present to insurance as proof of fitment and all it states is that it's a "Porsche immobiliser system".
It does have the part number pre-printed on it though - 999 999 795 00.Maybe an OPC can help with this number?

Hahahahaha,

Sorry, hysterical laughter there.

Direct line asked me for proof of immobiliser, so I went to the Silverstone OPC (very nice people there) and they verified the thing and wrote me a letter (for free) saying it was all pukka Thatcham cat 2 etc. I sent the letter to Direct Line, who said it wasn't on their list so push off sonny.

Anyway, I moaned (in writing), and they investigated and also checked with Thatcham themselves, and yesterday I got a nice letter from them saying sorry, we screwed up, you are right it is Cat 2.

So I'm happy now, but slightly frazzled as it took about 6 weeks of being told 'no' - even by an Indy who you might have thought would know. I hope you fare better.

That's strange - i'm with Nowrich Union - they didn't ask for proof as i stated it was "factory fitted".

I told DL that too, but they weren't interested. Incidently, Privilege (owned by the same company as DL) would be even cheaper and said they would accept the OPC letter at face value.

That number with 999999s in it just confused DL - it's not a number that appears on their list.

Thanks, guys!

It is Direct Line that are causing the problem, so hopefully he can sort it out based on your advice.

One very happy member, (PCGB member that is), impressed with the service.

I didn't ask what he thought of the magazine......

No worries. Mention to him that if he doesn't get a positive response then Lisa Rogers in Customer Services is the person to talk to - she got me sorted out very efficiently.
