S2 Cab oil consumption

A work collegue of mine has an S2 Cab (130k mls) and has been complaining of variable oil consumption. Commuting to and from work he rekons the car is consuming negligable amounts of oil but on long motorway runs he reckons it drinks the stuff. He's afraid it might be something expensive, like piston rings, but surely if that was the case you would get consistant oil consumption all the time? I can't advise him since mine has an oil leak at the moment so can't get a feel for normal oil consumption cause it ends up on my drive.

Any of you out there have a similar problem?

I've told him he's got to join the PCGB before I pass on any advice from the forum!!

Cheers.

My 190,500 mile S2 cab doesn't use any. Not a drop. It's had a couple of leaks over the last 48,000 miles but they have all been fixed by replacing seals, mainly down the front of the engine.

My S2 doesn't use any oil between services and I think that's pretty normal for S2s. If he is getting excessive consumption then he'd best get it checked out quickly. Every time I've delayed something minor it has become major in time [&:]

Sounds like a compression check would be an idea for peace of mind, doesn't cost much and takes no more than an hour.

But there is no consistent pattern, some cars burn more oil than others, did your car come off the production line on a Freitag!!

Only kidding, Good luck.
