S2 central door lock

My passenger door lock has stopped working but I can hear the central locking electric behind the door lock is trying to lock but couldn't. The lock works on the driver's door via the driver door lock itself and via the central lock button.

Is there a loose connection somewhere or a failed part that I need to replace? Please advice.

Charles,

You probably have a rod or hook or something that's slipped out of place, or come disconnected.

Take the door interior panel off, and have a look. That'll tell you all you need to know.

Link to last week here which takes you back a bit futher (this is like Dr Who eh? [&:] )

Not sure it exactly matches your issue?

Am I right that even if the central locking components (e.g. the ball joint and the plastic clip etc) failed, you should still be able to lock a door with the key right?
Mine one just won't lock itself with a key.

IIRC Paul S had a better picture in a thread some time ago. Nice to see that threads went off-topic so quickly even back then!

Ooooh, that makes things look a bit different.

I stand by my earlier comment tho' - take the door card off. A million posts speculating on a web forum are inferior to twenty seconds' worth of good look at the offending bits.

Charles, thats the same as mine. I had a little look the other day and I seem to be missing a part, see my other post in the other thread. Still havent sorted it.
