S2 colours

am going to have a look at a S2 today - it is burgondy (velvet red?) with linen full leather interior.

i have never seen velvet red before - is it quite a rare colour?

do you think this is a good colour combination?

thanks

I've only seen Velvet Red in a magazine, and looks great when polished up. As for colour combination it's georgous!
Better get some black matts! Good luck, have you any more info on the car?

just been to see it

it looks spotless - only things i could see were some minor scuffs on the alloys ( no bubbles) and a lump on the cill which I assume is the start of something nasty

it has 4 new tyres which makes me suspicious, but maybe i am being too paranoid??

has 98,000 miles on clock and is up for £9k at a dealer, which i think is a bit steep

what do you think - does it sound worth it??

thanks

I looked at a 2.7 Lux in this colour before I got mine. Very smart looking, and the linen leather would be a nice match.

Be wary of any rust bubbles though, these cars are galvanised and rust might indicate it's had accident damage in the past.

9k isn't bad for a nice one from a dealer, I've seen dealers trying to get more. You can bet there's room to haggle though [;)]

Good luck,
Alan

£9k is too much! Dealers always up there prices by a couple of grand. Look in 911 Porsche World and GT Purly Porsch and Auto trader and you'll so the difference in prices. Has it got any extras, belts done, engine mount, serviced last?

We looked at the same car on Saturday.

We just could not get away with the colour though.

We thought it had been well looked after and it had had the same owner from new.

If it had been black, silver or blue we would have been really interested.......................................

We looked at the same car on Saturday.

the one i looked at was at Strasse in Leeds - it is on their website - i assume this is the one you looked at

I do like that colour [:D] I've only seen it once before, on a 'Silver Rose' Turbo at Waltham Hall last year.

That is top whack price for an S2, and I have noticed before that Strasse do tend to be expensive.

But saying that, I have never seen one of their cars up close. If it has been extremely well prepared, with recent belts, CAM CHAIN AND TENSIONER and lots of other items all detailed fully in the claimed FSH then it should be a very safe buy. Their ad says it has only one owner and they have maintained it for the past 5 years, so all things are sounding good as they have a rputation to maintain.

When I bought my S2 50,000 miles ago it was one of the most expensive for sale at the time, but I trusted the dealer was selling an extremely good car and had prepared it well. I was lucky and it has served me very well [:D]

There are S2's out there for sale at the £4k mark, some will be bargains because the seller does not realise he has a good car. Some we will be dogs, and priced accordingly. Please try a few more S2's (be prepared to travel a bit) so you can decide if the Strasse one really is as good as I hope it is.

Good luck

Yes it was Strasse.

It has one owner from new and they are going to do a full service and belts before it goes out.

We've spoke to the guys at Strasse a lot lately and we think they are decent guys.

If only it wasn't that colour!
