S2 door mirror removal

Having recently bought a 1990 model year S2, I need to take the passenger door mirror off to replace the plastic "pad" between the mirror base and door which is broken. Having searched this forum it appears one should turn the mirror to expose a screw head which can be removed to release the mirror. I'm also familiar with this from the 924 I owned previously. However my S2 reveals what appears to be like a rivet head not a screw head when the mirror is turned. The drivers side is also the same. Can anyone suggest how it can be removed?
Thanks

Sorry - that was abrupt for a reply to a first-time poster. Welcome along. It's is still a black rubber cap though.

Thanks Fen, you are absolutely right, I've just prised it out with a small screwdriver. Certainly had me fooled, looks just like a rivet head and it's not shown in the illustrated parts catalogue I have.
