Hi, sorry if this has been covered to death, but I cannot see how to search the forum? Could I please get some advise on replacement front door speakers? I'm looking for a direct replacement. Also i'm about to replace the kaput Alpine unit with a double din Alpine ILX700. So any fitment advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Andrew.

Check the 944 FAQ section - there is a write-up on stereo which includes wiring (potentially required to splice in the connecting plug for your new unit) and IIRC the dimensions for speakers that will fit. The specific speakers discussed may be out of date now but you can use the dimension info.

Alpine SXE-4625 are a direct fit, just put two pairs in my car. I also added a Mazda 6 Bose powered sub inside the spare wheel and fitted a double din Android head unit.

To to fit the head unit you need a mechless one ideally or else it will be too deep, you need to cut the frame up with an angle grinder to get it to physically fit too. I then used a sheet of carbon fibre to fill the whole area and mounted the double din cage into that.
