S2 just put rebuilt engine in was running just over 1000rpm when i first started it up
MOT tomorrow and just moved it out of the garage and the idle is not at 1500rpm
Ive sprayed some aerosol around the vac hoses etc but made no difference

Car has not been on the road since Nov 2012 but tickover was fine before engine out

I unplugged the isv and it made it 100 rpm less

Help please

Have you tried following the idle set procedure on Clark's?

That would be my first port of call.

My guess would be the ISV is stuck - high idle is usually air leak in to the inlet, ISV not used for 2 years is obvious culprit.

Swapped the engine in my wifes car and spent 2 weeks finding high idle problem!

I have 2 idle valves(1 spare)both of them are very slightly open when unplugged but move fully openwhen 12v applied.
Is this normal or should they be closed?
I have cleaned them out

The 12V supply is switched on and off rapidly to vary the ISV level of "openess". Pulse width modulation is the technical term. Thus you should hear he ISV hum if its modulating correctly.
