S2 high idle

Hi, my S2 is ticking over at about 1400 rpm all the time since the engine was rebuilt
I have tried spraying all of the vac pipes but makes no difference to the revs
Today i tried clamping the hose from the inlet boot to the isv, this made the revs drop right down.
I have had the isv off before and noticed when not connected it sits not completely shut.
I have a spare isv that also looks like this.

Should the isv be completely closed when no power is going to it?

Also have you any other suggestions what it may be if it is not the isv?

This is all that is keeping me off the road now!

Thanks,Tim

Dunno much about the ISV but it sounds like you are on the right lines. Is the idle a constant 1400 when hot and cold? Does it hunt, or is it higher when cold, for instance?

Have you tried cleaning the ISV with some carb cleaner spray (or anything else for that matter)?

Through testing i have found my Throttle Position Switch is faulty on idle setting.
I have replaced it with a spare and seems to have cured it...just need to warm the engine up to check but cold engine sitting just above 1000rpm

Thanks

Well what are you doing posting about it on t'interweb then - go and warm it up and see whether you've solved the problem! [:)]
