S2 Insurance for under 25s

I know insurance topics are boring but was wondering if anyone out there can help me? Is anyone under 25 insured on an s2? I have a quote of £898 from tesco but every other company is either over £2k (elephant etc) or won't quote me (liverpool victoria etc) which makes me concerned about the validity of the tesco quote. I have heard that tesco have their own system for insurance groups (1-99 rather than 1-20) which might explain it as the s2 for some unknown reason appears to be in group 20[].

Other than that the s2 search is rolling along nicely[:)].

£898 sounds pretty damn good for someone under 25 for an S2 which, I thought was Group 20 anyway, as I'm paying over £400 and I'm over 35

I've had my S2 since before I was 25 which I turned last year. Your quote sounds about right, if not a little high, I paid just under £600 this year and that included some problems with a hit and run which wiped out my no claims. Have you tried some of the more specialist insurers, or do you need a standard policy for the milage?? Give Lancaster and Carole Nash a try (Their numbers are in the insurace section on this forum, I'm with Carole Nash this year) They give a club discount, and should be much cheaper than the Tesco quote. It will all depend where you are and where the car is kept though, I have to keep mine in the garage between 10pm and 6am within a mile of the house. If you aren't 25 yet it will make a differnce too, I got a much better deal now I'm 25 and more places will actually insure me. Apart from RH where you need to be over 30........

Carole Nash told me that they wouldn't insure me as I was under 30! I'm 28 and pay about 900 unlimited mileage on my 968 Sport. I used Peart and the policy is with RSA. This was by far the best quote I got. Your S2 should be at least 10yo so a classic policy is an option is it not?

Cheers for the replies. Unfortunately most brokers won't quote classic car until 25 or 26 depending on the broker. I'm 24 at the moment, live in the suburbs with a garage and do about 10k a year. To be honest I'll pay the tesco price but am just a bit concerned it will fall through for some reason and I have no other option. I'll let you know how I get on with Carol Nash and Lancaster.

Well I had better sort it out soon as I've just had my offer on a 1990 baltic blue s2 accepted. Put the deposit down tommorrow and pick it up the weekend after next![:)]

Yeah, well done hope you enjoy it[:D] I think the Tesco quote should be OK, I was insured with them on my 2.5 Lux once. As long as you've got a ref number or written quote I don't see how they can change it?

It wasn't Rob's car. His was very well looked after and I was teased but I went for a cheaper one so I have that bit left over incase things go wrong.

I have the tesco quote saved so should be okay just got an annoying wait until september for that extra years no claims (touchwood).
