Hi All

I have an '89 S2 Cab that is having a lot of issues with the power steering
system. Changed the pump and burst hydraulic hose and still horrible noises from
the system. So it look as though it could be the rack.
I am looking for a good power steering rack asap?

Does anyone know of good one for sale.

many thanks
John

I had mine reconned and have had no trouble for the last 3 years, rather than a second hand one that can fail.

I believe that simply changing the fluid can make a big difference, might be worth a go at least from a cost point of view?

this is interesting guys as mine has had a fairly noticeable whine at full lock and have just had the fluid changed as part of the annual service...its better so far...be interesting to see how things go over the next mth or so.

This is not a whine sound
Its not the fluid. Its had at least two fresh lots through the system and another new PAS pump (Yesterday) just to be sure.
The problem is that the fluid in the system is literally boiling and smells burnt. after a couple of 1-2 hours use.
The pump seem to get very very hot.
If I remove the return feed to the reservoir it will pull the fluid straight through the system.
All very confusing.
John
