S2 rusty cills

Someone on here recently suggested checking the cills by removing the plastic air grille on the inner door pillar but i cannot find the post to thank them and give them credit.

Just looked in my cills as there is a little surface rust starting to show in front of the rear wheels .

Fortunately its not too bad and the is no filla so I shall paint it with an oil and grease mix to halt any further rusting until I can get around to dealing with it later this summer. I have some rust beneath the plastic skirts as well so I'll do both at the same time.

Thanks for the suggestion whoever it was. You can see everything very clearly with a torch and access is pretty good through the hole.

When you come to do the work, I'd suggest you also have a look in the sills in front of the seats (there are 2 x rubber grommets you can remove if you peel back the carpets)

Nice picture - shows exactly where to look. And, how they should look in an ideal world.....[]

Get that treated and you will be saving a set of replacement sills! [:)]

Looks like I'm lucky Paul on this side at least anyway. Thanks for the tip edh I'll remove my seats when I do the work. I'm hoping to have some replacement carpets by then

Moderators!

Please edit the toenails out of that picture [] - it's disgraceful on an open forum [:D]

With even averagely large hands it's possible to get your fist and a digital camera down there and get detailed close-ups all the way to the front wheelarch.

sorry about the full frontal nudity lads ..cough [:D] but I thought it added character .

Eitnurg you little ferret, you must have very small hands lol!
