S2 SE - a mythical beast?!

IIRC UK special edition to try and sell the last with a different chip and possible a bit more go 225 often debated though - its a lot for a chip. I think it may have a 968 wheel and leather interior (grey) as standard - all the ones I have seen have.

Quite agree with both of those points.

And since when has white been the "traditional german racing colour"? That's silver, chum ...

Actually, I seem to recall that Germany did use white very early on, silver came about when Mercedes Benz or Auto Union stripped the paint off and ran in bare aluminium reportedly to save weight, although that is a point of debate. There was an article on this in Motorsport a few months ago, I'll see if I can find the issue and correct my rubbish memory [8|]

White was Germany's alloted racing colour.
Silver was the USA.

The scraping paint off thing is still being debated. It was becasue the cars at the time had to meet a minimum weight (this was to prevent huge engines being used), and the idea was the cars were not quite leight enough, and scraping the paint off just got them under.
However there are reports of the cars being painted silver at the time, so it is still not difinitively decided if the story is true!

Steve Kevlin who organises the club trackdays knows a lot about these as he was working for Porsche Cars GB at the time they came out. A few of us had a good chat with him at a trackday and he said they basically raided the parts bins at Reading and fitted everything they could find. The shocks are NOT M030 but they are a coilover multi adjustable Koni system. The power increase came from Superchips though I'd like to see one measured on a Dyno and I'd guess it will be less powerful than Oli's [:D]

(You know how you sometimes say something and slightly regret it for ever after ... I think I am currently experiencing such a moment!)
