S2 shocks - where to buy?

I've decided to give the car a treat this winter - new shocks all round. I prefer to replace the whole struts on the front rather than the Koni inserts. So.... where's the best deal these days (I'm based on the south coast)?

When I looked around at all the usual parts places I found that one place would be cheaper for the front, then another for the rear [8|] When you added up two seperate postal charges it was much the same with all of them.

In the end I got mine from Bert at www.berlyn-services.co.uk because at least he knows our cars and will send you the right version first time.

Back then it was £130 each for the S2 fronts and £60 each for the rears

Similar experience to Paul.

I got my fronts from Porscheshop and the rears from Eurocarparts.

I discoverd the day after placing the above order that Design911 had the fronts available for £115 a side. []

I'd be interested to know where you source the front struts from. ECP had them a little while ago at £115 ea for the fronts but they seem to have gone up now. When I replaced the rears they came from ECP Leeds and got them for £35+vat a piece - No problems getting the wrong ones they were Boge/Sachs.

Will be replacing the front strut top mounts too?

The best I can find so far is:

ECP - £133 each for fronts and £40 each for rears (plus VAT). Sachs I think.

or

Porsche OEM - £136.30 each fronts and £90.47 each for rears (plus VAT). Being OEM I think these are also Sachs.

When you say the front strut top mounts do you mean the bearings? If so I was going to have a look at the condition of them and make a decision - as I will with all other ancillary parts when doing the job.

Euro car parts and Bert Gear at Berlyn give good prices on these which I can only just match. But I can do Bilstiens MotorSport's for the front at the same price which are a bit better.

A lot of people though opt for a Koni conversion which is top adjustable and would cost about £100 more for the pair in a ready to fit condition on an exchange basis and can be supplied as coil overs that are hight adjustable as well. This solution is also available from Paragon as a kit.
