s2 spoiler[top of spoiler] sun bleached/faded .ideas plz

hiya all, after using peanut butter to get rubber looking better, now top of spoiler looks very sun bleached and faded in comparision to rest of rubber, any ideas how to restore colour? thanks jason

Ive used the AutoGylm bumper care stuff.. its a green type jelly and very good. puts the blackness right back in the spoiler

I recently had to have the rear bumper repaired on my Volvo. Whilst the guy was at it he 're-textured' the rub strip. It now looks like a new piece of trim - so much that it stands out from the others on the car. From what he told me depending on how you apply it, it can be used to achieve varying levels of texture. He did say that it is not generally available in your average Halfrauds etc though. Any sprayshop experts out there know what I'm talking about? (cos I'm not sure I do[]).

Yes, it's one of the things I do for a living.

Most of these black plastic strips that you see on bumpers or door rubbing strips are a moulded piece of black plastic covered in tiny bumps (the texture). If they get damaged/ scuffed etc you can rub the damage out (or fill it with plastic if the gouges are deep) and then spray a textured plastic paint over the top. If you look really closely you will see the texture does not match the pattern out of the mould (how could it? ) but done properly it is difficult to detect if you don't know it's there

I thank you for the constructive and eloquent way in which you point out my error Scotty.
Having re-read the thread I assume we are talking about the coloured section of a bridge spoiler? In which case I see how the product I mention would be of no use. Didn't see your first post as it appeared whilst I was typing mine BTW.

With regards to the rubber parts however... Having seen the results on my car, I would still suggest that a spray on product which restores what after several months on my car looks like a perrmanent black finish would be of use. Whenever I have used any products so far, the result seems to be temporary.
