Sabine at the ring in a 997 S

I think I'm in love [8D]

It just goes to show how weight kills fun..........................I weigh more now than I did when I was younger and I'm sure I don't have as much fun.

Something I learned when visiting the ring, there loads of specials that the locals setup just to run the circuit.
Loads of plain looking sleeper cars going round

And whats the reckoning that the mini arrived there on a trailer..? [;)]

Whilst I loved all the mini's I had including a Downton CooperS, I know which I'd choose to drive to the ring in..[:)]

What a cool clip, very entertaining!

I was lucky enough to see Sabine putting an M5 'ring taxi sideways coming off a bend before burning past me last summer. Although in my defence, I moved out of her way - I could have held her off if I'd wanted to of course [&:] ! And she was accomodating to us Top Gear fans who pestered her for a photo too........and I would show you if I knew how to either upload it or compress a 1.8mb photo. Oh well.

You're right. There is a Renault Laguna that slides round every corner. Tyres squealling all the time.
The mini always drives there. No van or trailer.

Would be fun, but still prefer it in mine. Great clip !!!
Much better than the normal ring vids.

There's a few things about Achim's mini that are not quite standard...[:D]

A Laguna estate? That sailed past me as well! Made me think that the key to materially taking chunks off a lap time there is to learn the track properly. And for that reason, I'm scouring ebay for a used Playstation 2 with Gran Turismo. My mate played it all the time and talked me round the 'ring like a co-driver in a rally car. Made a huge difference, but I reckon it would be better if I learnt it myself.

I'm going back on the 19/8 for some tuition with Ron Simons in his Alfa's. I'll probably finish the day off with a couple of laps in my C2S though.

Do you have it on a photo site somewhere then just paste the link via the

Gran Turismo has become a major problem for the ring as now everyone feels they know the track and drive like they would in a game and get into trouble. First of all it is very difficult to give a sense of elevation in a game plus the game needs to be entertaining and show sense of speed, otherwise it becomes boring and at times unplayable... it is great for getting familiar with the track (i.e. where the corners and straights are) from the comfort of your own home...

Excellent !

Not that difficult to make an old shed as fast as a supercar, which would the better half prefer to be picked up for dinner in though !

You've hit the nail on the head. What we found was that the game was very useful for learning the basic track layout in terms of straights, bends etc. and even the degree of bend, but it really doesn't convey the changes in elavation. Also, the straights on the game seem longer than they do on the actual track. All in all, the game is a useful tool for helping the driver to anticipate what's coming up, the actual track feels a lot tighter and more intense. Still worth doing though if you haven't driven there before.

Didn't get a chance to work on the ring but had a lot of fun with tracks on MotoGP for Xbox and PC some years back when I was at THQ, especially trying to get the physics for the corkscrew bend right on Laguna Seca... [8|]
