It is with a heavy heart I am writing this post. Sadly on Christmas day R3 lost Lesley Murray, one of the gentlest, kindest and nicest members Deb and I have ever had the privilege to meet and a real honour to call a friend.
Despite Les fighting ill health for some time I can honestly say his drive and motivation was second to none and he should be an inspiration to us all. Les was always there with offers of help and always keen to participate in everything he and Alison could as he simply just wanted to grab life with both hands.
Our thoughts are with Alison and all his family at this difficult time and after speaking with many of Les & Alison's club friends I know we are all eager, to not only pay tribute to Les but to help and support Alison in any way we can.
Without Porsche Club GB our paths would probably never have crossed which would have been a great shame, I am truly proud to have met Les through the club but even more proud to have shared some great times together, times I will always look back fondly on.

I think Greg has said it all above. I know me and Wendy's life is the richer for knowing Les. We'll miss him.

Very saddened by this news - Karen and I agree entirely with the sentiments written by Greg, I do remember Les, with Alison of course, being very warm and friendly at the beginning of our PCGB membership, and a friendship which continued to flourish - something you don't forget and speaks volumes about the kind and humble man he was. RIP Good friend.

Thank you all for your kind comments - when we joined the club we knew we had made friends for life - good, kind true friends - it is a comfort to me more than you will ever know
Thank you
Alison

Thinking of you at this sad time, Greg's words reflect totally how Alison and I feel. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed xx

It is difficult to express the feelings we had when we heard the news of Les passing. Heartsick would probably sum it up. We echo what Greg has written and feel truly honoured to have counted Les and Alison as our friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Alison. Godspeed, Les xx

Such very sad news, Les was such a kind, gentle, man. We will always have fond memories of Les, and we are thinking of you Alison. Will will treasure the pictures Les kindly sent us, which he took when we met you both at the loch during this summer's WOTY. Our deepest sympathy Alison.

I was shocked to learn from Greg this afternoon that Les had passed away and my thoughts are with Alison.

I had only met Les (and Alison) a few times but he was such a gentleman, lovely people. We had some long discussions about restoring our cars. He was extremely generous with his praise for my car and asked me for help and wanted to use some of my ideas for his own and in fact his car is also being restored with John Collins of Heritage Classics now and his full re-trim is well under way.

I have spoken to John and he is also very saddened. He was only speaking to Les the Friday before Christmas after he had sent Les some new photos of the progress, Les was delighted and very much looking forward to getting the car on the road in the Spring.

Heartfelt condolences,
Paul

Thanks for you thoughts Paul - he absolutely loved your car and was using your interior as the basis for his. Ironically it was the same day John sent him the photos - I take comfort from the fact he saw the progress on his car and was so excited to be able to get it done. I hadn't got round to contacting John but I want the car completed as he would.

I was very sorry to hear this sad news from Greg earlier.

The Club's thoughts are with Alison and Les's family at this difficult time.

Very best wishes.

Hello Alison,

It's very nice of you to take the time to respond at this very sad time. I know it must be very painful but I'm very pleased to hear that you intend to complete Les's car, as you have said, he would have liked that and I'm sure you will find some comfort in seeing his dream materialise.

I know you will be in good hands with John but if you need any help Greg has my number.

Meanwhile my thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you.
Paul

Karen and I have just checked back on the forum today after holidays and are deeply saddened by this news. I know we have only been members a short time but Les gave us an immediate wonderful warm welcome to the club and was happy to give us advice kindly and freely. We thoroughly enjoyed our initial meeting at Witton Castle spending a great day with both Les and Alison, which we will always remember fondly.

It's took a few days to get on the forum but still find this hard to absorb, really. I've worked & lived in countries which every day is threatened with being shot or death & always had this "hardened" approach but Les's passing has absolutely gutted me, even reading some of the comments send me over again.
Miss you mate :(
Keep the Faith Alison x

Only just seen this as I don't get much time to log in. Deepest condolences to Alison and family.

I only met you the once on the Cars in the Park, Newby Hall meet last year and Les and yourself were the first to come over and introduce yourselves. Friendly, warm and a lovely couple. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Carl
