sadly 944 for sale

Hey all,

Its been a while since i last visited the forums, so firstly my apologies. [:D]

I have just bought a '97 Boxster, so my '82 944 Lux is now redundant and has been sadly ignored in my driveway for far too long. Some of you might remember the last time i posted i said about a whistling noise (having overheated on the last run it had, im guessing the water pumped failed). The engine still turns runs on first key turn but sounds a bit dry (like a worn bearing maybe, the noise wasn't there until the car overheated). There is no mot or tax and you will need a trailor to take it away (or a long bit of rope depending on your professionalism!).

There is some pics of the car on the forum here,

... a search of my username in the forum will show you some of the posts i have discussed about the car with other forum users.

I dont know what it will need for an mot, but i do know during the past 12 months i have owned the car it spent more time in the local garage than it spent on the road having various new bits fitted, so it shouldnt be too much (although dont hold me to that as i have said many times before im not a mechanic by any means). It might suit someone looking for a 944 project or just for spares.

I'm asking here before placing it on flea-bay, so if you need any further info just give me a shout.

Hi. How much are you asking for it and where abouts in Wiltshire are you?

I've just purchased another sickly 944 that has been stood for a very long time. Its hanging in the balance at the moment as to whether its worth rescuing, but the engine appears sound, so might be able to make one good one out of the two? [8|]

Hey sixappeal,

Guess you could say its open to offers. [;)]

You could definately make the best of 2 thats for sure, mine has newish seats fitted (no tears or splits), 4 x brand new tyres (less than 100 miles since fitted), etc, etc... Generally its been looked after, shame it over heated TBH. So in theory, you could just drop in a new engine and your good to go (however, i would suggest it might be worth replacing the water pump first as that might be the only problem but like i said im not a mechanic).

I'm based in Swindon, Wiltshire.

Ok, thanks. I'm back on the case to try and get mine running tomorrow. Hopefully, by then, I should of made a decision as to whether its worth saving.
