Sales Brochure

944 LIL

New member
I wondered if anyone had copies of the original sales brochures for the 944 series - or can suggest where to look.

Try looking around the brochure dealers at the NEC show next month? My brother got me one from Essen this year for my birthday.....great present! It has some good photos, and is nciely produced too (as you'd expect for a car that cost £32k at the time!!)

Thanks - I googled 944 brochures - and have one turning up from the states at some point for $9.99 !!

Talking about the Classsic Car Show at the NEC, last year someone posted a 2for1 offer. Anyone found anything the same this year?

I got one with my S2 (and every invoice back to the year dot.)

I could post up some photos/scans if that's helpful?

Oli, I think thats a great idea - guess you'd need to scan it.

Perhaps Paul McNulty could add to either the buyers guide or the faqs?

I read a lot of the stuff in there and its great - you can tell I still haven't got LIL back yet !

Dragging up an old thread, but I finally got 'round to scanning the brochures that came with my car. I've got them as *.gifs, but they are quite big and there are a lot of them, so I don't want to be eMailing them repeatedly.

It would probably be best if they could be placed somewhere to be downloaded if anyone wanted them. Preferably on this site. Anyone have any ideas how this could be done? I'll contact McNulters as I'm sure he knows how to do it, being curator and all that ...

FWIW, the brochures I have are as follows:

Sales brochure for (I think) 1990 S2 coupe and Cabriolet
"Technical Data and Specification 1991 Model Year"
1986 Price List for just about everything on wheels that Porsche sold in this year

Even looking at them now I'm a smidge confused as to where they came from, as my car is an '89, so these must have been obtained separately by a previous owner.

What size are they in kb?

There is a 200kb limit to items stored on the forum so you might have to store them exterally on somewhere like www.photobucket.com

It's a bluumin good idea though Oli [:)] We could make an FAQ of the sales brochures. I have a 1990 Turbo one I could scan in.

Probably be best to store them as PDF's (but I dunno how to do that and they are huuuuuuuge)

I've been given brochures and price lists but they're bigger than my scanner....[&o]

The Club website is the place for these, hopefully I'll know more about the plans to get the 944 area up and running after the Worker's Conference in a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, I'm picking my jaw up off the floor at the option prices. This cracked me up - 928 has standard air-con, including glove box. Nice. But, for a mere £1035.29 plus VAT you could have added "Increased air conditioning output".....[&:]

Or, how does £1529.88 plus VAT sound for a 944 to gain "Partial leather interior"? Not bad until you read "not including seats" [&o]

Paul,

Having bleated on about how big they are, they come to a total of 41mb. That's 38 files. The biggest is just over 3mb, the smallest 81k. So, not too scary.

Other Paul,

Yes, I am well aware of the problem with brochures being larger than A4, and I only have an A4 scanner as well ... I've spent all afternoon scanning them in bits and patching them together! (Although the end result isn't bad, even if I do say so myself!)

Prices are very very scary. Hefty depreciation on 20-year-old cars is the only way the likes of me will ever get my hands on such expensive bits of machinery. Welcome to being poor ... (and being made to feel it too!)

Get a PDF printer such as bullzip ( http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/info.php ) open the file hit print and it will create a PDF.
